InsomniaBird

Born in China, I immigrated to the U.S. at the age of four to join my parents in Bridgeport, Chicago. After teaching public school art for over four years, I left full-time teaching and took on the name InsomniaBird, to create art out of my apartment. Drawing from my education background, I believe the visual arts are a form of everyday expression, and should be accessible to individuals of various ages and backgrounds. My artwork mainly features acrylic and ink, with reoccurring motifs, including a large-eyed bird. My pieces are influenced by street art, surrealism, and Japanese kawaii, or cute, style and illustrate life’s challenges and triumphs.
