Yuqing Zhu

Chicago, Illinois

Yuqing Zhu creates self-portrait collages to uncover a personal mythology, channeling her family’s past into an allegory to the future. Inspirations from the Western canon as well as Chinese and Mongolian folk tales populate her work. These elements are cut-and-pasted together with graphite sketches and ornate papers to compose surreal scenes.
